Believes in Local Control
Today, the courts are being called upon to decide issues of state and local control. Doug believes that the local community, and not the federal government, is in the best position to make decisions that affect the everyday lives of the citizens because the local community has a vested interest in their community.

Many of the judicial positions throughout Southern Illinois are currently held by Democratic judges. Clinton County has been no different. The opportunity for Clinton County residents to elect their own judge does not occur very often. Now is the time to ensure that Clinton County’s judge is a Republican for many years to come.
Doug’s opponent in the election currently serves as an Associate Judge. Associate Judges are appointed by the Circuit Judges in that circuit. As a result, even if Doug has the privilege of being elected as your Circuit Judge in November, his opponent will continue to serve as an Associate Judge in the Circuit. However, if Doug’s opponent wins election in November, then the Associate Judgeship that is vacated will be appointed by all of the Circuit Judges serving in the 9 counties throughout the circuit, reducing the likelihood that Clinton County retains both judgeships. Doug’s election will ensure balance within the judiciary.
